On 2 June 2011 the Minister of Labour released the first of what will be an annual snapshot of key health and safety statistics, which will be used to monitor progress towards the Workplace Health and Safety's vision of "healthy people in safe and productive workplaces". Read more here.

[1] There are a further eight fatalities notified to the Ministry where further enquiries are ongoing to determine if the circumstances constitute a workplace fatality. This figure does not include work-related deaths on the road, maritime and aviation sectors, and deaths from long latency diseases.
[2] There was at least one victim per workplace accident. This figure does not include work-related injury from road traffic, or in maritime and aviation sectors.
