What is Safety Culture?
Safety culture is the way we do things round here. It’s the collective practices shared by everyone in the workplace, as a reflection of what’s important.
Why is it important?
The evidence shows a positive safety culture means reduced lost time injuries and increased safety behaviours. It also shows there are other business benefits – improved productivity, increased job satisfaction and enhanced business reputation.
What is the Safety Culture Snapshot?
The Snapshot is an introductory tool that can help you assess and understand your workplace’s safety culture. If used as part of a planned process, it can help to:
- Engage everyone in your workplace on health and safety
- Identify areas of strength and weakness in your safety culture
- Inform action planning to make improvements
